Grantsmanship

Grant writing is an increasingly important part of many organizations' financial strategies. Grants can enhance all aspects of service resources and provision-from new construction to addition of new staff members and services; from public transportation to innovative health education programs; from volunteer projects to water purification initiatives.

The Applied Social Research Unit (ASRU) hosts affordable grant writing workshops. Workshop topics include grant resources and search strategies, understanding guidelines, refining ideas for proposals, developing proposals and pre-proposals, building collaboration, evaluations, and follow-up to proposals.

ASRU has published Grant News, a newsletter publicizing grants for small Illinois communities, since 1994. To read past issues from October 1995 to the present go to Grant News.
