Interviews

Applied Social Research Unit (ASRU) staff members have many years of experience conducting structured and semi-structured interviews for social research and business purposes. Interviews have some advantages over surveys. Using an interview, an ASRU staff member can probe for more information, explain an interview question, answer interviewees' questions about a topic or project, and paraphrase interviewees' answers to ensure understanding. The ASRU meets clients' needs by:

  • developing interview instruments;
  • composing interview samples;
  • making interview appointments;
  • conducting professional interviews in-person or over the telephone or Internet;
  • summarizing and analyzing interview information; and
  • incorporating interview information into project reports.
