The Applied Social Research Unit (ASRU) conducts survey research by mail or telephone depending on clients' needs. The ASRU contracts to perform some or all of the tasks required to obtain reliable survey data. ASRU staff members:

• construct survey samples;
• develop survey instruments;
• organize bulk mailings;
• conduct telephone interviews;
• enter survey data;
• perform statistical analyses of survey data;
• create graphical presentations of survey results;
• compose comprehensive research reports; and
• develop materials supporting public presentation of survey results.
